Welcome to An Evolving Portrait of Us, a participatory digital artwork by Leo Chan.
Your Participation
By participating in this artwork, you will:
- Capture a neutral-expression selfie using your device camera
- See your likeness morph into collective portraits with other participants
- Generate and share a video of the morphing sequence
Grant of Permission
By clicking "I Accept" below, you grant Leo Chan permission to:
- Use your facial likeness in this artwork ("An Evolving Portrait of Us")
- Incorporate your likeness into composite portraits with other participants
- Use your likeness in subsequent artworks by the artist
- Display the resulting composite imagery publicly as part of the artwork
- Collect your approximate geographic location for potential geo-weighted portrait variations
Privacy & Data
Your individual selfie will be processed to create composite portraits and then deleted within one hour. Only the composite images (where individual faces are not identifiable) will be retained.
We collect approximate geographic location (city-level precision, ~10km radius) for potential future artworks that explore regional portrait variations. Precise GPS coordinates are not stored. No other personally identifiable information is collected.
No Commercial Use
This is a non-commercial art project. Your likeness will not be used for advertising, endorsements, or commercial purposes.
Voluntary Participation
Participation is entirely voluntary. You may decline to participate by clicking "I Decline" below. If you decline, you will be redirected to the artist's portfolio website.
Artistic Intent
This project explores our shared humanity through collective portraiture. The morphing sequence reveals how individual faces blend into a collective whole, suggesting both our uniqueness and our commonality.
Revocation
Once your likeness has been incorporated into the composite portraits, it cannot be individually extracted or removed, as it has become part of a collective artwork.
